Welcome to the Alanya University Cartoon and Animation Department!
The Department of Cartoon and Animation at Alanya University, operating under the Faculty of Art and Design, adopts an interdisciplinary approach to education that brings together art, cinema, design, and digital technologies. Our department aims to foster students' artistic creativity, help them develop a distinctive visual storytelling language, and equip them with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in animation.
Our four-year undergraduate program offers a comprehensive curriculum covering a wide range of subjects, from fundamental art and design principles to character design, cinematography, visual storytelling, and two-dimensional and three-dimensional animation techniques. While developing their drawing and design skills, students gain experience in different stages of animation production and learn to use digital production tools. Elective courses in areas such as screenwriting, storyboarding, digital game design, and stop-motion animation allow students to broaden their knowledge and skills according to their individual interests.
Our educational approach regards animation not merely as a technical production process but also as a creative form of expression through which ideas, emotions, and stories can be communicated audiovisually. Accordingly, we encourage students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, aesthetic judgment, and creative collaboration skills. Through their graduation projects in the final year of their studies, students have the opportunity to transform the knowledge and skills they have acquired into original creative works.
Animation's close connections with cinema, television, advertising, digital media, and the gaming industry provide graduates with diverse career opportunities. Our department aims to educate individuals who can respond to the evolving needs of creative industries, adapt to technological developments, and actively contribute to creative production processes.
